From a small core of organisers with a big dream of seeing the general public in an ongoing dialogue with artistic creators working across Cyprus, we have grown into an established annual Event.

This exciting concept has naturally spread to encompass three regions, from mountain side to seaside and town centres and is clearly just getting started. It is our hope that studio visitors will continue to enjoy an ever-widening directory of artist and artisan disciplines while also becoming more familiar with the people and places of this special island.

We thank our sponsors and advertisers, many of whom have supported us continually since our inception, and we hope that you will use their services whenever possible.

Come celebrate our birthday with us on Wednesday, September 29th, 7:30pm, at the Paphos Cultural Centre Palia Elektriki. Meet the 2010 participants, supporters and organisers and view an amazing showcase of works representing the studios welcoming you in October.

Founded in 2006, Open Studios is an adventure into the creative world of the second largest visual arts event in Cyprus. There is a wealth of all art forms on the island and Open Studios is just one way in which we celebrate this.

This year’s Open Studios event once again takes place over the first four weekends of October, our Culture Month. Open Studios is endorsed by the Cyprus Department of Education & Culture, Cultural Services and CTO (Cyprus Tourist Organization).

Each year, the artists of Cyprus open their workspaces and homes to the public.  At all venues the artists and artisans will be on-hand to help you engage with their creations, keen to talk you through the extraordinary range of materials, skills and traditions that inform their work. To avoid disappointment, please consult the guidebook or website to see which studios will be open on your chosen route.

From mid-September, pick up a FREE copy of the Guide to Artists at all CTO offices and many businesses across Cyprus. You can also download the Guide from our website. To help you find your way, participating artists will display an official Open Studios banner or poster outside their premises as well as directional arrows to guide you there. Be sure to check the website for printable maps to take along and any other information you may need.

Participating studios are open from 10.00 am to 1.00 pm and 2.00 pm to 6.00 pm on both Saturdays and Sundays throughout the month of October. Please note the hour-long break for lunch.

Many artists live quite near each other, making it convenient for visitors to see several in the same area. Artists will have details of the other participating studios in their areas as well as additional maps detailing suitable routes. These may also include other items of interest such as a local taverna, a monastery or a winery to include within the visit. There is no need to make an appointment and there are no entry fees or charges by the studios, except for a €2.00 charge to the Print Museum at Platinisteia Village.

Our website showcases all the artists taking part. You can even switch to a map mode, where you can explore maps of the various areas and see what’s happening near you.
