Since the launch of FITA in January 2010, the Group has rapidly expanded with new Members teaming-up together to generate awareness in Cyprus of female artists, artisans and designers.

The Paphos HQ are proud to announce the appointment of their Regional Officer; Ntora Angeli ANTORA JEWELS Website:www.antorajewels.com Email: antora@antorajewels.com 99716700.

“Thank you for giving me the title as a Regional Officer in Nicosia of the Female Artists of Cyprus. I really appreciate this and will offer my best services to keep an organised established group,” says Ntora.

Mary Chojnowski, Tsada Village has been a Member of FITA from the beginning. Her mosaic work in Cyprus has excelled, teaching in schools and by private and church commissions.

Celebrating a new creative venture together, Greek Orthodox Bishop Giorgios gave his blessing to the latest mosaic for St Paul’s Pillar church, Kato Paphos.  Another mosaic for the community created with the help of young people and Mary.

There is a strong tradition of mosaic art in Cyprus from the early Roman and Christian period onward. The Art Department at ISOP has undertaken a challenging project to create a number of large mosaics which will decorate the school in years to come.

All classes from Kindergarten to Year 9 were involved in a recent project, involving the younger pupils sorting out the colours and the older ones doing the actual placing of the pieces and the grouting.  The mosaic designs were sketched by the students and supervised by the art teachers, Mrs. Afxentiou and Mary herself.

“Artists joined us too, which was great as they could see the whole process involved in community projects celebrating the affirmation of Artists and generating awareness for the children involved. It makes everyone aware of the importance of Artists working with organisations like schools, businesses and community ventures. This is something I would love to spread out to more schools and colleges in Cyprusand bring other Artists on board too,” says Mary.

“Membership to FITA has provided me with opportunities to develop my mosaic work in Cyprus through networking and seminars. A FITA invitation to a recent business conference, allowed me the opportunity to address delegates on the benefits of FITA which resulted in press coverage, acquiring me an educational contract in Limassol.”

On Saturday 27th November 2-9pm at the Hilton Cyprus Hotel, female artists and designers will showcase their talents to the general public, under the banner of Expo Art Cyprus and will include stunning works created by female artists.

This truly International event will embrace female led creativity from not only Cyprus but also England, Scotland, Romania, Slovakia,Holland, Germany and Russia.

The exhibition will reflect the creative talents of those women who have worked in Cyprus on both commercial and private commissions. All work on show will be available for purchase and with the festive season only a few weeks away gifts purchased here will include hand crafted bracelets, rings, necklaces and ear rings, mock Faberge style eggs, glorious textiles, timeless sandstone paintings, paintings, silks, and mosaics.

FITA – acts as an agent for women and provides them with appropriate platforms to market their works.

It also assists with targeting via the worldwide web, through a direct blogging /news/sourcing/and tracking system to link up with other like minded, talented women.
