SAM LOMAS

Sam has been working as an Art Therapist at the NSE, National Society for Epilepsy in the UK, for 2 years which has so inspired him as an artist.

The NSE offers a range of expert services for people with epilepsy. These services include cutting edge research, diagnosis, support, assessment, residential care and rehabilitation programmes, including art therapy.

Art therapy is based upon the belief that the creative process involved in artistic self-expression helps people to resolve conflicts and problems, develop interpersonal skills, manage behaviour, reduce stress, increase self-esteem and self-awareness, and achieve insight.

As a practicing artist, Sam encourages his clients to express themselves using strong colours and imagery. By painting alongside clients and exhibiting paintings with them he hopes to go some way to reduce the stigma and prejudice associated with epilepsy, learning disabilities and associated mental health issues.

Previous exhibitions of Sam Lomas’ work have been held at:

Portobello Gold – Notting Hill, London

Kings road Gallery hired by Hanging Fried Eggs online art gallery

Frank Taylors Summer Art exhibition – Guilford Surrey

Sunflower Framing Gallery – Beaconsfield Bucks

Hurling Club – Fulham, London

Unmasking Epilepsy Exhibition BP Collins Suite – Gerrards Cross, Bucks
