Tatiana Barry is self taught fiber artist, feltmaker and a journalist. With her journalistic skills and expertise, she has contributed to FITA corporately sharing her contact base and article writing.

“I lost my job in the corporate world in the year 2009, I didn’t realise then that this fate encounter imposed upon me, would actually prove to be one of the happiest moments of my life, opening new doors to discover a natural ability to be creative, It has been a gift from the Universe. My life has changed its direction forever, I didn’t look for a new job, and I created one instead.”

“Craft was always my passion, so I started researching and running a lot of tests and started felting. Materials I use for in my designs are quality luxurious silks, finest cashmere, organic British wool and a lot of different fibres with complex textures, soft surfaces and beautiful colours. ‘Happy little bubble’, ‘perfect woolly world’ is the best place for me now, no rat race, no stress, and no negativity within my own creative space. Every morning I can’t wait to start working, eager to see the end result. Images for new pieces are coming early in the morning, so I always have a big writing pad on my bedside table. Inspiration is everywhere, beautiful sea waves, unusual leaves and flowers inspire me, providing innovative creative ideas.”

“There is a long way to go; a road of beautiful experiences and I guess I will be learning until the rest of my life. I also will try a lot of different techniques and different fabrics to work with in the future to reach the next level; I love the challenge and want to dare for more.”

“One of the dreams which I will fulfil is to publish a book about my experiences and felting one day, work has already started. I think it is not really necessary to write a big novel about myself here, I prefer my work will speak for me. But I want to share one of my favourite quotes of  Mark Zuckerberg, Founder of Facebook “Move fast, take risks, it’s okay to try big things, you’re better off trying something and having it not work and learning from that, than having not done anything at all”. So, that philosophy is very deeply ingrained in my mind and soul.”

Tatiana Goddard February 21, 2011

Tatiana Goddard starts with the first fleeting image that touches her soul. Then a unique and magnificent artistic and creative development unfolds. This unique process can only be achieved by unveiling the future feelings of the “doll” – who she is to whom she would like to become.

A doll artist is a person who is able to hear, to feel and to understand the inner life of a future doll creation, which is weaved from her own soul.

Tatiana Goddard is a member of UNESCO International Federation of Artists and a member of the Global Doll society. Since 1992 her dolls have been admired at exhibitions and galleries in New York, London, Paris, Dublin, Rotterdam and Hanover (EXPRO).

Her dolls are emotional, dispensed with character and soul that is tirelessly developed into detailed works of art. They have unique almost talking hands sometimes sad or tired by character expression, sometimes alluring and dynamic characteristics. While peering into the images created by this artist, it becomes clear how deep she is able to feel her heroes; each with its’ own history, feelings and possible destiny.

Tatiana is also particularly attracted to the creation of a portrait doll. To her it almost borders on psycho-analysis, needing her ability to understand and to feel the personality then to bring not only the formal resemblance to the person, but also the inner substance into the image she creates. In this sense Tatiana Goddard is extraordinarily gifted. It is not with vanity that people commission her with a request to make their portrait-dolls, but possibly because they want to see themselves as they are in reality.

Few words from the artist:

A Space next to to Him

For who was Christ put on the cross?

Paradoxically for us, who have in many ways forgot the meaning of this sacrifice, and who on a daily basis fight amongst each other and became more and more selfish within a battle in which innocent victims are lost… Innocent because we did not anticipate to pollute them with vanity and greed and they do not have the debt of self-criticism and penitence for their actions, they are simply in danger, growing up to look like us and perpetuate the degradation of world…

Who are these victims, the real ΄΄innocent΄΄ and finally the ones who are worthy of “A space next to Him”?

Μερικά λόγια από τoν καλλιτέχνη:

Mιά θέση δίπλα Του

Για ποιόν σταυρώθηκε ο Χριστός;

Lefki Alexandrou – Emotions January 4, 2011

The Pantheon Gallery invites you to the opening of the solo mixed media exhibition by artist Lefki Alexandrou entitled “Emotions” on Friday 7th of January 2010, 8:00pm.

Few words from the artist:
“Emotions are an important matter, which affect everyone. I express all kinds of emotions through my paintings and sculptures; sadness, happiness, emotions associated with break-ups/ separation and all the stages that follow from a break-up/ separation and the strength and willingness that someone can find after hitting rock bottom. I used mixed media so as to show these different feelings and senses.

Most of my paintings are done using oil paints so that they can express more emotions. My sculptures are made with specific materials so that they can give importance to each emotion. I used materials that are contrasting to each other like glass, steel, raisin, plaster. Glass can express the feeling of devastation, but on the other hand, steel shows strength. By using raisin I wanted to capture the combination of the two materials and how strong they can be and work together. Finally, via plaster I wanted to show the marks that a break-up can leave behind and its effect on the human mind, spirit and body. That’s why I used many techniques and materials because every one of us is different and have different emotions in certain circumstances of our lives”.

Opening Hours
Tuesday – Friday: 10:00 – 13:00 & 17:00 – 20:00

Journey through spaces by Birute Kriukelyte-Kazlauskiene

Is not gallery proudly presents Birute Kriukelyte-Kazlauskiene’s firts solo exhibition, entitled “Journey through spaces”, on Friday 7 January 2011, at 8pm.

The Lithuanian artist works as an architect and her paintings are always influenced by her everyday life in the working environment and vice verse.

Birute Kriukelyte-Kazlauskiene’s work aims at exploring the emotional amplitude in sectional spaces usually architectural objects, using minimal elements of composition. The exploration of the emotional amplitude in sectional spaces gives the concept a 3 dimensional drawing. The three dimensional experience is analysed as vertical, horizontal, and in an emotional depth. Like in architecture, where the spatial sequence is not defined, the artist’ paintings follow the same pattern, colours and minimal shapes that interlace between each other and creates a vibrant experience of space.

Birute’s work is influenced my Mark Rothko’s paintings and we can see this in the combinations in a palette of hot and cold, bright and dark, shiny and matte, rapturous and melancholy colours.

Birute Kriukelyte-Kazlauskiene has studied at the VGTU (Gediminas’ Technical University of Vilnius), in Lithuania and has received a Bachelor Diploma in Architecture. She now lives and works in Paphos as an architect at Vardas Studio, architectural office.
